The former Naval and Marine Corp Center in Grand Rapids — vacant for five years — may soon have a new owner as community members weigh in on its future.
The Domestic Violence Action Network held a vigil called 'Their Light Lives On' Monday night — starting at the Eberhard Center and then moving to the Blue Bridge — to honor the names of 60 domestic violence victims and note that about 2,500 incidents are reported each year in Kent County. The group hopes the event will boost local awareness and support for survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
