The Toasted Pickle, a sandwich shop with locations in Grand Haven and Rockford, opened a new space at 820 Michigan St. NE in Grand Rapids on August 12. The restaurant offers over 15 sandwiches — including French dip, grilled cheese and Cuban — plus soups, salads and sides, and it will operate Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Kentwood police said a man aged 58 was walking on Eastern Avenue SE near Hardwick Drive when he was struck and killed by a northbound vehicle— the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
