- ➤ Bentley Winston Adsit, weighing 10 lbs 8 oz, was born to Emily Strang and Christian Adsit at 1:35 a.m. Jan. 1 at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital, making him Grand Rapids’ first newborn of 2026. Both he and his mother are recovering well. MLive
- ➤ Grand Rapids will host a ribbon-cutting for the new $19M MLK Park Lodge at 1200 Martin Luther King Jr. St. SE on Saturday, Feb. 21. The 25,000 sqft community center is five times larger than its predecessor and will soon offer free recreational programs and rental spaces. MLive
- ➤ At Van Andel Arena today, the Griffins will host an Emergency Preparedness Night in partnership with the Office of Emergency Management. The first 300 families will receive free starter kits while Grand Rapids police, firefighters, and CERT members offer safety demonstrations — helping residents register for emergency alerts. MLive
