- ➤ A new 2.5-mile trail along Pettis Avenue in Ada will connect the Grand River Greenway for pedestrians and cyclists and is set to finish by the end of 2026 (a public meeting is scheduled at Roselle Park on Jan. 29 at 11:30 a.m.). FOX 17
- ➤ Since 2021, the Spitler family in Sparta has held an annual blanket drive in memory of Eric Spitler for patients at Pine Rest, Forest View, and the homeless at Mel Trotter Ministries. This year it is expected to top 1,000 blankets – thanks to student competitions in Sparta and Coopersville. ABC 13
- ➤ The Grand Rapids Camper, Travel & RV Show is at DeVos Place this weekend, featuring over 300 RVs and RV influencer seminars as it continues from Thursday, Jan. 15 until Sunday, Jan. 18. FOX 17

- ➤ Shake Shack will open West Michigan’s first drive-thru location in 2027 at 3029 28th Street SE in Kentwood + the site near Woodland Mall adds to the growing number of restaurant chains expanding in the area. ABC 13

- ➤ World of Winter is lighting up downtown with art displays and more than 20 events until March 1. The festival (now in its seventh year) draws visitors and helps local businesses thrive during winter’s quiet months. FOX 17
- ➤ A Holland roofer has donated about 5,000 artifacts to the museum's Artifacts Project at the Armory, which will display this collection over three phases during the next year as he leads guided tours of local history. FOX 17

- ➤ Plainfield Township launched a GPS-based traffic signal preemption system on Plainfield Avenue to help fire apparatus get green lights from up to 3,000 feet away + the project is part of a roadway improvement funded by a Community Development Block Grant and may expand after assessments. FOX 17
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Construction crews at Amway Stadium in downtown have assembled over 1 million pounds of steel as part of the $175 million project that will host AC Grand Rapids next spring. Work will continue with west side canopy assembly beginning in February as teams complete the final stages. ABC 13
