- ➤ Fur Baby Services will build a kennel at 2825 Barry St in Georgetown Township for dogs with special needs, offering six overnight suites + private spaces with food, water and an outdoor run. Construction starts this spring and the facility will open in May. MLive
- ➤ Drivers along East Beltline Avenue can expect to see a new Bank of America branch at Knapp’s Crossing soon—construction began last year and will finish in the next 60 days—while part of the nine-acre site is set for retail development. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ada Parks and Recreation is offering two women's self-defense classes at Roselle Park in Ada this winter. The beginner-friendly sessions, led by certified instructors, will take place on Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Feb. 7 at 11:30 a.m. and are open to teens and adults. FOX 17
- ➤ Coopersville's all-state wrestler Brady Steffes, who earned a 4.2 GPA while volunteering to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, said he hopes to attend West Point (a goal inspired by his Uncle Steve). ABC 13

- ➤ Senators Slotkin, Peters, Durbin and Duckworth wrote a letter urging officials to resume the Brandon Road Interbasin Project, which blocks invasive carp from the Great Lakes. They warned that pausing the project near Brandon Road Lock and Dam may delay work and jeopardize fisheries — congressional funds have been held. ABC 13

- ➤ Corewell Health announced Wednesday plans to expand its Butterworth Hospital campus in Grand Rapids with a 621,000 sqft facility featuring a new emergency department (including 180 private beds and up to 16 operating rooms) to meet growing healthcare needs; construction is expected to complete by the end of 2030.
