COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Acrisure Ampitheater announced a Golden Ticket sweepstakes that gives one fan two tickets to every show during its inaugural year. Fans can sign up for clues (via the VIP Email Club) until March 8 as construction continues downtown. FOX 17
- ➤ Local law enforcement agencies, including those in Grand Rapids, are offering free gun locks through Project ChildSafe to help keep firearms inoperable; police say adding a lock to a gun safe in a locked room can boost overall gun safety while residents are urged to store ammunition separately. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ ArtPrize 2025 drew 967,000 visitors to Grand Rapids over 17 days, beating last year's attendance by over 100,000. More than 1,100 artists from 39 states and 18 countries participated, while organizers plan programming for the new Acrisure Amphitheater and next year's event starting Sept. 17. ABC 13
- ➤ Three Michigan dogs (SPCA of Southwest Michigan, Big Lake Humane Society from Muskegon) will compete in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl on Sunday at 2 p.m. while 15 special needs pups and senior dogs up for adoption join the event from over 70 shelters. FOX 17
- ➤ Michigan musicians Charlie Millard and Olivia Vargas played a frozen piano at Ah-Nab-Awen Park on Feb. 5 as part of the World of Winter festival. Downtown GR Inc. hosted four outdoor concerts featuring art installations — including a glowing hexagonal display by Illumaphonium — and live music until March 1. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Grand Valley State University approved a $166 million project that will renovate the 10-story Eberhard Center and build a four-story Blue Dot Lab downtown. Construction will begin in May and finish in August (2028) pending final state funding and authorization. MLive
- ➤ Jenison High School bowling teams aim to secure state championships as the boys team holds the top ranking in Division One and the girls team shows continuous improvement. Coach Chris Slagter said the teams will focus on fine-tuning their skills ahead of regionals and potential state play. FOX 17

- ➤ Microsoft asked Gaines Township to delay a Feb. 12 public hearing on rezoning its 40.5-acre property for a data center at 7147 Patterson Ave. SE — the tech giant plans to update its rezone application and hold a community meeting in late March. MLive
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Grand Rapids' city board approved a $2.1 million brownfield tax incentive for Wheeler Development Group’s Knapp Hills Townhomes project on a six-acre site at 2070 Dean Lake Ave NE. The 38-unit development (featuring two- and three-bedroom homes for families) is set to break ground in May or June, pending final approval. MLive
