  • The Just Between Friends sale is now open in Comstock Park at the former Art Van on Alpine Avenue (offering 50 to 90 percent off children’s and teen items) and a free kids’ market is set for Saturday morning; the sale continues through Saturday.  FOX 17
  • Book lovers can visit Cascade Township Library this weekend when Friends of Cascade Library hosts its spring book sale (Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday 1 to 3 p.m.), offering over 10,000 books to support library programs.  FOX 17
  • Blandford Nature Center will host its 56th annual Sugarbush Festival on Saturday, Mar. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1715 Hillburn Ave. NW—offering maple sugaring demonstrations, wildlife shows, family activities, and select food vendors with online pre-registration recommended.  MLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Schnitz Deli on Fulton St has been closed for a couple weeks after Tuesday's flash flood damaged its main floor and basement. Owner Dan Rios expects repairs costing $80,000 to $120,000 and hopes to reopen by the end of the month.  FOX 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • LaughFest is underway in West Michigan with events benefiting Gilda's Club Grand Rapids as the festival began yesterday with a Misfit Variety Show at 7 p.m. at Villa Banquet Bar and runs through Sunday, March 15, featuring headliners Adam Ray and Monét X Change amid over 30 shows planned.  ABC 13
  • West Michigan will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with vibrant events as Grand Rapids hosts an Irish festival with live music, dancers, and a charity 5K at Calder Plaza (Mar. 14, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.) while Muskegon schedules a parade, race, hockey game, and family breakfast over the weekend.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Four GRPS schools closed yesterday after water damage from Tuesday's storm, affecting 1,758 students while other schools remained open. The district said it planned an update later that day.  MLive

  • The Ultimate Sports Show begins today at DeVos Place in Downtown Grand Rapids and will run until March 15, offering outdoor gear, travel tips, and live demonstrations for hunters and anglers (including a lumberjack show and trout clinic).  FOX 17
  • West Michigan Whitecaps chose the fan-created Fried Pickle Quesadilla for Tuesday, April 7 at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park. The dish, created by Grand Haven librarian Liz Emery (who submitted her winning recipe), features fried pickle chips, pepper jack cheese, and ranch dressing, and will be sold at the Quesadilla Cart behind home plate.  MLive
