Wealthy Theatre, a historic venue at 1130 Wealthy St. SE, began as a World War I aircraft warehouse and evolved through major renovations to serve as a community performing arts center and media hub.

It now hosts movies, live music, and events with modern digital sound and lighting systems.

Irish Off Ionia returned to Calder Plaza yesterday with a new layout — featuring double drink tents and double stages — and offered live music and Irish performances from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Organizers planned improvements after learning from last year's event to give more space for guests.

A proposed development in Grand Rapids Township will build 31 ranch-style homes on 12 acres at 1157 Medical Park Drive SE with prices starting at about $900K.

The project is under review & construction is planned to begin this fall, with first homes ready in about a year.
