- ➤ A partial solar eclipse will occur Saturday morning as the moon partially blocks the sun across parts of North America, Europe, Africa, and northern Asia. Grand Rapids residents must travel to see the event and are advised by NASA to use safe solar viewing glasses—or a pinhole projector—to watch the eclipse safely. MLive

- ➤ Police Chief Eric Winstrom said there were no shootings in Grand Rapids during the past month—car thefts dropped from 156 last year to 42 between January and February—and officers averaged confiscating one illegal gun each day. ABC 13

- ➤ Annika Meier is a 15-year-old cancer patient from Rockford who struggles with medulloblastoma and surgery aftereffects—her family started Anni’s Army to fund research and help cover everyday costs for families facing pediatric cancer. The nonprofit will host a charity baseball game at Rockford High School on May 8 when her older brother plays and she and her twin brother watch, inviting community support. ABC 13
