- ➤ A Grand Rapids kindergartner died Wednesday after his family was involved in a serious head-on crash — the collision occurred at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday on U.S. 131 near Day Road in Kalkaska County. MLive

- ➤ Twenty-one-year-old Edreek Tornes was sentenced on March 26 for selling fentanyl-laced heroin that led to the overdose death of a 39-year-old woman, and her family said they were frustrated that his sentence could allow his release in less than five years. MLive

- ➤ The Walker City Commission voted four to one to reject a rezoning request for the Brightside Lane housing project at 4519 Richmond St. NW (on 19 acres) because of concerns about density and traffic safety. The decision stops plans to build 40 new homes in a Grand Rapids suburb. MLive
- ➤ Three Kent County courts are offering an amnesty program in April that lets residents settle overdue fines without extra fees. If people pay their original fines in full, late fees, bench warrant fees and show cause fees will be canceled—this applies to misdemeanor cases, traffic tickets and civil infractions. WOOD TV
