CRIME NEWS
- ➤ At 2:01 a.m. Sunday, Walker Police reported that a hit-and-run with a silver Honda seriously injured a 47-year-old pedestrian at the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and Ferndale Avenue— the victim was taken to the hospital. FOX 17
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Severe storms hit West Michigan Sunday evening & damaged buildings, knocked down trees, and left over 192,000 households without power. Consumers Energy crews are working to assess the damage and expect power to be restored Monday through Tuesday while a local school remains closed due to storm damage. FOX 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ During the weekend, Consumers Energy crews worked to restore power after severe storms caused over 75,000 outages and left about 40,000 customers without service. More than 600 crews later moved south to help restore power — drivers were advised to slow down near repair work. ABC 13
- ➤ A large crowd gathered at Grand Rapids Christian High School on March 27 as U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten (D) held a town hall to address local concerns. The meeting gave residents a chance to voice their issues directly to their representative. WOOD TV
- ➤ The Fruit Ridge Avenue Bridge in Walker will close today at 7 a.m. for a $30 million project to build a new five-lane bridge with walking and biking paths that support growing local businesses. Drivers will face delays with detours via Walker Avenue, 3 Mile and 4 Mile roads and scheduled demolition from April 4, 7 p.m. to April 7, 6 a.m.—with work set to finish by early November. FOX 17
