- ➤ Grand Rapids is planning a series of events + contests and digital projects to honor its 175th anniversary after officials celebrated the city's incorporation on April 2. The birthday party will be held Saturday, June 7 at Rosa Parks Circle and a traveling mobile museum exhibit will visit different parts of the city. MLive
- ➤ Hope’s Second Chance Animal Sanctuary will reopen later this month for cats and soon for dogs to provide free boarding for pets of domestic violence survivors seeking safe housing. Haley McLean said the nonprofit will host a virtual walk/run-a-thon (in April) and a masquerade gala (on May 15) to raise the funds needed to keep the shelter open. ABC 13

- ➤ CA Frost Environmental Science Academy Elementary in Grand Rapids closed yesterday because a power outage forced the school to shut its doors—other district schools stayed open as spring break began on Friday and classes will resume April 14. WOOD TV
