  • The Grand Rapids Rowing Club hosted its first Grand River cleanup event on Saturday morning when volunteers removed debris from Riverside Park to LMCU Ballpark. The club partnered with Pioneer Water Treatment—which supplied funding, equipment and volunteers—and said they hope to make the cleanup an annual tradition.  ABC 13
  • On April 12, Kingma’s Market hosted its annual Michigan Samplefest in Grand Rapids as its garden center turned into a festival with 28 local vendors offering free samples of pizza, craft beer, and ice cream. The event drew long lines and a full parking lot—visitors enjoyed games and prizes in sunny weather.  WOOD TV

  • Record Store Day 2025 kicked off Saturday morning in West Michigan as record shops welcomed crowds looking for special edition vinyl and CDs. The 18th annual event featured 370 LP releases from artists like Taylor Swift + Gorillaz + Charli CXC and offered local prizes, contests and restaurant discounts.  ABC 13

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Friday, an appeals court dismissed a lawsuit filed by unnamed citizens and former students who sought to stop the use of 14 sexually explicit library books in Rockford Public Schools. The court ruled that the plaintiffs did not show they were directly harmed and the district said parents can block books from student check out.  WOOD TV
