  • Susan Kacsits, a former preschool bookkeeper at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Preschool in Rockford, pleaded no contest to stealing over $224,000 in more than 50 checks over several years—she will be sentenced in June.  WOOD TV

  • Electric Forest announced it will offer day passes for the June 19th–22nd festival at Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury; the passes cost $175 with a $16 handling fee and give entry to all stages and events. Buyers who purchase before May 9 will receive a complimentary day parking pass.  MLive

  • Roguewood Elementary’s Thomas Murdock was named Teacher of the Week today for his strong passion and care for his students. Principal Amie Santillan said he supports his class and boosts their confidence with his love for math (a style that makes learning fun).  ABC 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Multiple construction projects in Kent County have begun and will impact traffic for months as crews close lanes on US-131 until November and on M-37—with northbound lanes closing at M-6 until mid-July and southbound lanes at 44th Street until mid-October. New Beginnings Restaurant at the 44th Street intersection expects slower traffic but will remain open with reduced shifts.  WOOD TV

  • The Kent County Health Department is offering free walk-in testing for sexually transmitted infections as part of STI Awareness Week. Testing is available at the Sheldon Complex today from 1-4 p.m. — and at the Annex Building on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.  MLive
