  • Black Napkin, a popular take-out at 966 Fulton St. E, served smash burgers, homemade sodas and creative sides that had locals lining up on Wednesday, April 16 for items like the $15 Le College Dropout double burger. Owner Korin Hollinshead and her husband Jason Richardson, who opened the shop in 2022, broke their record by selling 850 burger patties in one day — a success credited to word-of-mouth and loyal regulars.  MLive

  • Former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr, fired after fatally shooting Patrick Lyoya on April 4, 2022, will face trial for second-degree murder next week as jury selection begins on April 22 — his actions during the fatal traffic stop will be examined.  MLive

  • Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park marked 30 years as a cultural destination today and has attracted over 15 million visitors since its opening on April 20, 1995.
