  • Former GRPD officer Christopher Schurr faced trial Monday, April 28 for the 2022 fatal shooting of Patrick Lyoya during a traffic stop that ended in a two-minute struggle over a taser—his dismissal motions had been denied by the Michigan Supreme Court.  ABC 13
  • A group gathered outside the Kent County Courthouse Monday morning to support former GRPD officer Christopher Schurr—accused of murder in the death of Patrick Lyoya—as his trial began, with demonstrators carrying signs and Michigan Rep.   • The Grand Rapids Art Museum will open an exhibition of award-winning artist David Hockney's prints, his first show in the city, featuring more than 160 works in various media like drawings and collages.
