- ➤ About 2,100 Consumers Energy customers lost power Wednesday, May 14 after a 9 a.m. crash on the Southwest Side took down a utility pole + power lines near Cesar E. Chavez Avenue SW and Hall Street, and Consumers expected to have service restored by noon. MLive
- ➤ A crash on the southwest side of Grand Rapids took out a utility pole—cutting power for roughly 2,000 customers along US-131 and nearby streets—just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, and city crews are working to restore service. FOX 17

- ➤ Corey Penn, father of 15-year-old Amillier Penn who was fatally shot while playing football last summer on Grand Rapids’ southeast side, asked the city to rename Umatilla Street after his son— the proposal was presented on May 13 and will be discussed in a public hearing on June 10 as 17-year-old Cartiyae Pascal faces murder charges.
