- ➤ The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan has acquired Tri-Cities Puentes Initiative—an organization that runs the Hispanic Heritage Fiesta and scholarship programs in Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg. - ➤ Randy Buckner, 47, accused of murdering his one-time girlfriend by beating her and stealing her car, was returned from New Mexico—booked into Kent County jail on May 27, police said. WOOD TV
- ➤ Grand Rapids police identified Montaness Lowe, a 31-year-old man, as the victim of a shooting on the Southeast Side that occurred on May 23 at 1:30 a.m.—his death was ruled a homicide and the investigation is still ongoing. MLive
- ➤ A 25-year-old woman from Grand Rapids was seriously injured in a crash in Allendale after 11:30 p.m. Monday near the township fire station when a high-speed Honda Civic hit a curb and power pole—Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said a 25-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested and treated at the hospital. - ➤ Grand Rapids families will receive SUN Bucks starting in June to get a one-time payment of $120 per child for food at grocery stores, farmers-markets and online retailers. - ➤ Grand Rapids was named an underappreciated gem for families by the BBC as it ranked fourth in the Best Places to Travel in 2025 series.
