  • A Kent County man won $2 million on a scratch-off ticket he bought while fueling up at Clyde Park Fuel on Clyde Park Avenue Southwest in Grand Rapids. He said he will use his $1.2 million lump sum to buy a house, take a vacation + save the rest.  MLive

  • According to AAA, even as gas prices are expected to top $5 a gallon this summer, 59% of Michiganders plan vacations and many are booking local trips — opting for bundled travel deals — to save money, with travel agents recommended for finding savings.  ABC 13

  • Grand Rapids Public Library is offering free summer programs for children from June through August at various branches — including the Main Library, Seymour, and West Side — for hands-on learning, with activities covering stop-motion filmmaking, bubble science, circus arts, live animal encounters, comedy magic, art and musical play.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • East Grand Rapids has $42,871 in unused opioid settlement funds — advocates say using the money for naloxone kits and harm reduction services could help save lives as discussions continue on its best deployment.  FOX 17
  • Dr. Celia Egan explained that lipedema is a chronic condition affecting fat storage in women’s legs, hips, buttocks and arms and is often mistaken for weight gain. She said treatment options include compression therapy, lymphatic and physical therapy + low-impact exercise to ease discomfort.  FOX 17

  • Community leaders held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday at MoTown Square at 240 Hall St. SE. The new 54-unit building offers affordable apartments for seniors 55 and older (with units for voucher holders and those experiencing homelessness) and serves households earning 60% or less of the local median.  MLive
