  • Michigan State Police reported a fatal crash at 5:50 a.m. on May 28 on US-131 north of 6th Street in Grand Rapids involving a van or large SUV that sustained major damage and caused heavy traffic delays.  WOOD TV

  • Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said she stands by charges against former trooper Brian Keely for killing Samuel Sterling—even though a federal judge dismissed them because of insufficient evidence and federal immunity—and said her office will appeal the ruling—warning that this outcome could set a dangerous legal precedent.  ABC 13
  • Grand Rapids' historic Four Star Theatre was awarded $325K from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) program to complete phase two of its restoration. Developer Marcus Ringnalda said the funds will repair the marquee as part of a plan to transform the venue into a cultural arts center.  FOX 17

  • Dr. Josh Kooistra was named president of Corewell Health in West Michigan—serving for 23 years and as interim president since December 2024—replacing Dr. Alejandro Quiroga. He will lead 10 hospitals and more than 22,000 employees in the region.  MLive
