- ➤ Grand Rapids will celebrate 175 years next weekend with a community-wide event beginning Saturday from 2 to 5 at Rosa Parks Circle that features live music, carnival games, free cake and ice cream, and historical exhibits—opening with a prayer by the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians and followed by walking tours at 5:30. The festivities will extend to Monroe Center and Louis Street with thousands expected to join the celebration. WOOD TV

- ➤ Multiple homeowners in the Allendale area called Ottawa County Sheriff's Office on Sunday evening to report a loud explosion near 40th Avenue and Leonard Street where an unknown individual shot a shooting range's legal Tannerite target—no one was hurt. FOX 17

- ➤ Grand Rapids Police confirmed shots were fired during a car meetup at the Shops at CenterPoint parking lot near Nordstrom Rack at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday+ one person was shot with non-life-threatening injuries. FOX 17
- ➤ The Lyoya family said officials decided not to retry former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr for the death of their son on May 29—this decision deepened their heartbreak. WOOD TV
- ➤ One person was injured in a Saturday evening shooting near Sheldon Avenue SE and MLK Jr Street SE in Grand Rapids—injuries were not life-threatening and no arrests were made, police said. WOOD TV

- ➤ Arts in Motion lit up the Wealthy Theatre stage with a showcase of 14 pieces—4 singing and 10 dancing acts including a performance with a dancing goat. The nonprofit helped people with disabilities express themselves and will host its next community golf outing on June 29. ABC 13

- ➤ This spring, Hudsonville Public Schools converted an old math classroom into an esports lab with 10 computers and cool neon signs. Coach Brady VanMalsen said the lab cost about $30,000 for computers and $20,000 for upgrades — several students have already caught the eye of area colleges. MLive

- ➤ After nearly five years of record highs that caused erosion and damage along lakeside properties, Lake Michigan/Huron dropped steadily and reached an average level of 578.35 feet in April—about 6 inches below normal and nearly 4 feet below its 2020 peak.
