- ➤ Buell Motorcycles is set to launch its new $26,000 Super Cruiser this fall after receiving 6,000 pre-orders and completing design tests that show the bike is lighter and faster than rivals. The company plans to invest $18.5 million to expand its headquarters at 2700 Patterson Ave SE and hire 162 workers to boost monthly production to 300 bikes by early next year. MLive

- ➤ Grand Rapids police say that on May 23 they responded to a shooting outside Billy’s Lounge on Wealthy Street when officers found Montaness Lowe with a fatal wound to his abdomen. Keith Tett—who had argued with Lowe over the same woman—was arraigned on June 4 and now faces homicide and weapons charges with a return to court on June 17. ABC 13
- ➤ Westen Meulenberg from Jenison was charged after he fired multiple rounds that killed 19-year-old Connor Lotterman during a house party in Tallmadge Township on May 9th—he remains held on a $50,000 bond as deputies say alcohol may have played a role. WOOD TV

- ➤ Consumers Energy has asked the Michigan Public Service Commission to raise electric rates by at least 10.25%—adding about $436 million in revenue over 12 months from April 2026 to April 2027—to fund grid safety and reliability improvements. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said her office will review the request and fight to keep customer bills fair. ABC 13

- ➤ Students finished classes Thursday at Grand Rapids Public Schools while administrators are beginning renovations on the old Sigsbee Elementary building to transform it into Southeast Career Pathways & install upgrades like larger windows and new air conditioning. The $7 million project will finish in late July as other district facilities, including fields, receive planned improvements. WOOD TV

- ➤ Smoke from Canadian wildfires lowered air quality in West Michigan starting last Friday and although the haze improved yesterday morning, conditions remain poor in parts of Grand Rapids & the I-96 corridor. Jim Haywood from EGLE said computer models show more smoke may drift in later this weekend and residents should take precautions by keeping windows closed and reducing outdoor activity. FOX 17
