ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 77-year-old man from Reed City was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital with life-threatening injuries after he pulled his car off the road near a Meijer on Perry Avenue in Big Rapids Township Saturday afternoon—deputies said he was not wearing his seatbelt.  WOOD TV

  • Noco Provisions is a modern gastropub in Eastmont that serves comfort food for family dinners, first dates, and business lunches.   • Grand Rapids police said a man died after a shooting near Jefferson Avenue on 28th Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday—officials did not release details about the victim or any suspect as investigators cordoned off the area.  WOOD TV

  • The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety turned off external access to its license plate reader cameras after learning the data was used for immigration-related searches; Grand Rapids police confirmed they do not use their systems for immigration enforcement & no GRPD officer is involved in such activity & the move reinforces proper use of local surveillance tools.  WOOD TV

  • Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s girls lacrosse team will face Detroit Country Day in the Division 2 state championship at 11 a.m. Saturday at the University of Michigan Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor — a rematch of last year’s title game; the Cougars replaced 13 players this season and secured an 8 to 7 win over East Grand Rapids despite earlier regular season losses of 18 to 6 and 9 to 6 to Country Day.  MLive
