- ➤ Westbound I-96 near Leonard Street and 3 Mile Road in Grand Rapids Township was closed Tuesday after a fatal crash claimed at least one life—police urged drivers to take alternate routes. ABC 13
- ➤ A 17-year-old working with a chainsaw died in Muskegon on Sunday after suffering a neck laceration while cutting a fallen tree at a home — MIOSHA said the homeowner found him next to the chainsaw. WOOD TV

- ➤ Daniel Lindstrom, a former FBI agent with 21 years of service, has been chosen as Grand Valley State's new police chief and will start in August when he replaces former chief Brandon DeHaan, who retired in March + he served as assistant special agent in charge in Los Angeles + his proven record is expected to strengthen campus safety. - ➤ Michigan lawmakers must deliver budget bills to the governor by July 1 as they remain divided on school funding. The Senate passed an $84.6 billion plan with $200 million for school meals while the House approved a K-12 funding plan and proposals to shift $1.5 billion to higher education — both sides plan to resume talks on July 1.
