GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ada and Cascade townships in Kent County are creating a Do-Not-Knock registry that will allow residents to stop unwanted door-to-door solicitation—officials plan to update local ordinances to include stricter permit requirements in response to complaints.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported that carfentanil (a synthetic opioid 100 times stronger than fentanyl) was linked to 11 deaths from January to June in counties including Ingham, Livingston, Eaton, Genesee, Oakland, and Wayne. Health officials urged people who use unregulated drugs to carry naloxone since the dangerous substance was often mixed with cocaine and fentanyl.  WOOD TV
