  • John Ball Zoo will host three escape room games this year that are only for adults so teams solve puzzles and explore the zoo after hours. The first event, Cryptic Cats, will take place Friday, Aug. 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.—two more Fab Forest games are scheduled for Sept. 5 and Sept. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  WOOD TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police said a 16 year old from Grandville intentionally entered the highway Saturday night on I-196 near the 44th Street overpass and was struck by a vehicle—officials are now asking the public for any details on vehicles involved.  WOOD TV

  • Comic fans of all ages will gather at the Grand Rapids Public Library on July 26 for Comic Geek Out — a free event offering face painting, meet and greets, crafts, and snacks — where hands-on activities and free giveaways will spark creative excitement.  MLive
  • Jazz in the Park returns for its 25th season as the West Michigan Jazz Society begins its free 10-week concert series in Millennium Park to bring live jazz to the community. Earlier this week, Benje Daneman + Kanola Band performed a New Orleans-style set, and six more concerts are scheduled while memberships help fund an awards celebration on September 30.  ABC 13

  • Three local students—Logan Anderson from Sparta, Brandon Barker from Holland, and Keira VanderKolk from Hudsonville—received a $1,000 scholarship each from West Michigan Works! Agribusiness Talent Council to support their agribusiness studies; applications for the next round will reopen in January 2026.  MLive

  • Christy Buck of Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan said older adults may face changes in health, housing, or the loss of loved ones that can lead to loneliness and depression—signs that call for a closer look at mental health.   • A Park Township firefighter said responders rescued three people after a craft overturned about a mile south of the Holland pier heads on Lake Michigan this weekend. The incident underscores the importance of life jackets — they kept the victims afloat long enough for a safe rescue and serve as a reminder to follow water safety rules.  ABC 13
