  • Grand Rapids’ 138-year-old Ladies Literary Club building at 61 Sheldon Boulevard reopens today as a community space managed by Penny Hock’s nonprofit; public tours start today and the café will hold its grand opening on Tuesday. The space will host events like comedy nights, yoga classes, and weddings—restoring its historic role as a hub for art and fellowship.  WOOD TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Deputies investigated a serious injury crash in Comstock Park on Thursday morning at West River Drive and 4 Mile Road, and drivers were advised to use Mill Creek Drive as sections of both roads were shut down.  WOOD TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Michigan State Police conducted a sting earlier this week when they executed a search warrant on Tuesday at six stores in Oakland County and seized counterfeit high-end merchandise including Rolex, Nike and Gucci items that may contain harmful chemicals as investigators prepare to share their findings with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.  WOOD TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the City Commission approved a $7 million grant to study a redesign of Wealthy Street in Grand Rapids (part of a broader plan to rebuild a key freeway stretch) and officials plan to lower the street below the freeway to improve safety. MDOT said work will await additional funding and proper environmental reviews (the full project is estimated to cost more than $700 million) before construction begins.  ABC 13
