- ➤ On Aug. 1 shortly after 9 p.m., a 23 year old man was stabbed at a Walmart in Alpine Township — bystanders apprehended the 29 year old suspect after he was struck by a vehicle, and the victim was taken to hospital in stable condition. MLive

- ➤ Grand Rapids held its 47th annual Hispanic Festival at Calder Plaza starting Aug. 1, and the event offers music, food and cultural performances drawing tens of thousands from West Michigan.
