- ➤ Steelcase, Grand Rapids’ largest office furniture maker, is set to be acquired by HNI Corporation in a cash & stock deal valued at $2.2 billion, with the transaction expected to close by the end of 2025. - ➤ On August 4, police investigated a shooting on the 3700 block of South Division Avenue when a man was hurt by gunfire and taken to a hospital in stable condition—no arrests have been made yet. MLive
- ➤ A 23-year-old Hispanic man was stabbed multiple times in an unprovoked attack at Alpine Township Walmart Friday at 9:00 p.m.—police said the 29-year-old suspect left the store, was hit by a car, and was detained by bystanders—and the victim is expected to recover. FOX 17

- ➤ New renderings from John Ball Zoo show early ideas for a proposed aquarium along the Grand River in Walker (the plan includes wetlands and a former landfill) at a 190-acre site slated for completion in 2031. The zoo said the aquarium will draw 1 million visitors, deliver a $3.4 billion impact, and generate $268 million in state and local taxes in its first decade as it works with state and local agencies on a cleanup effort.
