  • The Ms. America Wheelchair Competition begins on Monday at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids and will end on August 24.   • A native planting project was recently completed in Grand Rapids’ Uptown Business District along Lake Drive SE and Fulton Street E to replace failing vegetation with prairie plants that need less water and support local wildlife—helping reduce maintenance costs for nearby businesses.  MLive

  • The Kent County Sheriff’s Office demonstrated its drones in Grand Rapids on Friday to drop life jackets and medical supplies—deputies said the device will help in search and rescue over local waterways.
