- ➤ Upcycle Bikes, a Grand Rapids non-profit, has donated more than 2,500 refurbished bikes over three years to parolees, refugees, and others facing transportation challenges—working with local partner agencies to provide free bikes and planning a Pedals for Progress event on Sept. 18 to expand its reach. - ➤ The Grand Rapids Public Museum is renovating its 1928 Spillman Carousel with accessibility upgrades such as ramps and a wheelchair accessible chariot—ensuring visitors of all abilities can enjoy its charm. - ➤ Kent County nearly finished a $500,000 project to lower a steep 15-foot hill on Jericho Avenue near Rockford High School after 18-year-old Navaeh Downs died in a November 2023 crash.
