- ➤ Lori's Voice has announced the new Pathway to Possibilities 5k Run, Walk, Stroll event to raise funds for children with disabilities who need help with adaptive equipment and therapy costs. The event will take place in September at Veterans Memorial Park in Kentwood and charges $30 for adults and $10 for kids — organizers expect many participants to join using strollers and power wheelchairs. - ➤ Janine Rayford, a former Michigan UIA worker from Redford, pleaded guilty to taking bribes in exchange for approving fraudulent unemployment claims—she accepted over $50,000 and now faces a mandatory 2-year prison sentence for aggravated identity theft along with up to 5 years for bribery. - ➤ Deputies were searching for a suspect fleeing on foot from a stolen vehicle near Tanger Outlets in Byron Township Monday night—using K-9s and drones to track the individual. WOOD TV
- ➤ A 17-year-old runaway from Alpena County was intercepted at Detroit Metro Airport when MSP & Wayne County Airport Police stopped her from boarding a flight to Atlanta to meet an online contact, and she was turned over to her parents. WOOD TV
- ➤ Grand Rapids police found a man shot and killed on the 400 block of Diamond Avenue SE at around 2:30 a.m. today — first responders tried to save him but pronounced him dead. ABC 13

- ➤ Grand Rapids Community College will launch a new AI course in winter that uses a $438,685 NSF grant to pair 60 students from associate and AI certificate programs with local businesses to solve real-world challenges by building projects such as chatbots and social media tools + the seven-week capstone experience will give practical skills for workforce readiness.
