CRIME NEWS

  • Wyoming police are looking for 50 year old Tuyen Pham—last seen near Clyde Park Avenue and 32nd Street SW on August 10 and reported missing in September—because she may not have access to her prescription medication and anyone with information is asked to call police.  FOX 17

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Wyoming City Commission approved Gelock Heavy Movers Inc. and HEL Inc. to build their new headquarters at the vacant General Motors stamping plant site in Wyoming, and the project will create over 400 jobs and boost the local economy by 2027 — the move brings new life to the 75-acre campus.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Calvin University enrolled 150 international students for fall but did not enroll 65 others because a U.S. State Department pause delayed visa processing—students missed the Aug.15 appointment deadline. The school is now working with its team to help affected students and plans to enroll them in the spring semester.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ottawa County released the names of five finalists for the administrator role—Paul Sachs, Matthew Farrar, Kurt Dykstra, Patrick Waterman and Chris Kukulski—from a pool of 58 applicants; Waterman had resigned in August after he could not work with former administrator John Gibbs. The finalists will face interviews on September 8 at 9 a.m. and September 10 at 9 a.m. as part of a third hiring effort to fill the position.  FOX 17

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cherry Health is partnering with MDHHS and Renaissance Church to operate a free Neighborhood Wellness Center at 1001 33rd St. SE—offering health screenings, COVID tests and referrals for food, housing and transportation without needing insurance or ID. The center is open Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.  MLive
