On Saturday morning, the 14th annual Grand Rapids 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb was held at LMCU Ballpark to honor 343 firefighters, 60 police officers — and 10 EMS members lost on 9/11 by having participants climb the equivalent of 110 World Trade Center stories while carrying a fallen hero's name tag. Kevin Milanowski from GRFD was honored with the HME Local Hero Spotlight Award as the event raised funds to support local firefighter programs and foster remembrance in the community.

Over the weekend, West Michigan hosted several free events including art classes at Creston Farmers Market, the 52nd annual Eastown Street Fair in Grand Rapids, and Celtic culture in Kalamazoo.
