- ➤ Exotic Snack Guys is open at Woodland Mall in Kentwood—offering rare snacks and drinks from over 40 countries including Dubai chocolate and salty licorice. The store in the Macy’s wing also sells mystery boxes filled with popular treats and marks its first West Michigan location. WOOD TV

- ➤ DaShawn Guyton, 23, was shot and killed at Mackay-Jaycees Park on Kalamazoo Avenue off 28th Street around 7 p.m. Saturday after a reported fight—and his family identified him while police still search for a suspect. WOOD TV

- ➤ Acrisure Amphitheater in downtown Grand Rapids will open next May and will host its inaugural concert season with country pop star Russell Dickerson and special guest Niko Moon performing on May 30, 2026 — tickets go on sale Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. MLive

- ➤ Hundreds of teachers, parents, and students rallied outside — and inside the board meeting — of Grand Rapids Public Schools on Monday, September 8th to call on district leaders to settle ongoing contract talks. The protest underscored strong local concern over the slow pace of negotiations. WOOD TV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Robert Dykstra—a Holland snowmobiler who overcame serious injuries in a 2012 accident—won the MSADRA Season High-Points Championship this summer and will drive 830 miles one way in October to compete for a world title in Montgomery, Alabama. He is seeking fundraising support to help cover his travel costs. FOX 17
- ➤ Construction on Amway Stadium is on schedule as crews prepare the eight-acre site next to the David D. Hunting YMCA on Lake Michigan Drive NW and will begin installing the first steel beams in late October — a key step for the $175 million multi-use venue — which will host an MLS Next Pro soccer team and community events. - ➤ The Harlem Globetrotters will mark their 100th anniversary in 2026 with a game at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on January 4 and another at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on January 24—tickets go on sale Monday, September 22 at 10 a.m. The team will also debut its 100-year jerseys and hold a free 5th quarter autograph session during the Grand Rapids game. - ➤ Grand Rapids—Al Fracassa, a prep football coach who won nine state titles and led his team for over fifty years including 44 seasons at Brother Rice, died peacefully at his home on Sunday. He was 92 and is survived by his wife, four children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. WOOD TV
