  • On Saturday morning, Gilda’s Club held its 11th annual West Side Walk in Grand Rapids—more than 400 people walked a 1.5-mile route to support those affected by cancer and loss. The event raised $237,703 to improve the club’s parking lot and driveway after nearly 25 years of use.  WOOD TV

  • Three members of a well-known TV family died when a semi-truck hit their car outside Cass City Friday night after running a stop sign, police said; five others were hurt and the driver was arrested.  WOOD TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ferris State University launched a billboard campaign called 'Make it Here' that shows student art on 20 billboards across Grand Rapids while ArtPrize runs from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4. The billboards feature work from Ferris State and Kendall College students and are placed in neighborhoods near key ArtPrize venues — highlighting local creativity during the festival.  MLive

  • Officials announced Saturday at Calder Plaza that West Michigan’s first professional men's soccer team is named AC Grand Rapids and will join MLS Next Pro in 2027 at the new $175 million Amway Stadium on the west side.
