- ➤ A woman and her two children jumped from their balcony at Breton Court Apartments Thursday morning to escape a fire that began when cooking items ignited across the hall—fire officials confirmed that 12 units were affected and ruled the incident accidental. WOOD TV

- ➤ Casey's has acquired eight Kum & Go gas stations in the area—some stores, including the Walker station at 2134 Alpine Ave NW, have already rebranded. The new Casey's will offer handmade pizza, hot sandwiches and breakfast along with fuel, with no changes planned for the fuel offerings. WOOD TV

- ➤ Hope College in Holland will begin construction next month on a 74,000-square-foot building for its economics and business department — over $50 million of the $65 million needed has been raised and the project will sit on 8th Street between College and Columbia avenues. - ➤ East Grand Rapids’ Department of Public Safety has collected more than 9,000 pounds of unused prescription medications since 2017, which shows strong local efforts to keep households safe.
