  • Residents can explore many Thanksgiving weekend events across West Michigan starting with the Christkindl Markt at the Downtown market offering food and gifts, ENLIGHTEN lighting Meijer Gardens through Jan. 3, and Griffins facing Iowa Wild at Van Andel Arena on Friday and Sunday with giveaways & food deals, while an art supply swap at Roeda Studio, the Christmas Lite Show at LMCU Ballpark, Farmgirl Flea’s Holiday Market at Countryside Greenhouse on Friday & Saturday, Kalamazoo’s tree lighting at Bronson Park and South Haven’s Holiday in the Park round out the family-friendly options.  WOOD TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ada leaders launched the Love Your Local digital gift card campaign to support over 20 local businesses during the holiday season and beyond— it can be bought online, letting residents shop locally and help keep money in their community.  FOX 17
  • Walker residents will soon see Raising Cane’s replacing the closed TGI Friday’s on Alpine Avenue at 3179 Alpine Ave—approved by the Walker Planning Commission, the new restaurant will feature four stacked drive-thru lanes to speed up orders. The chain will demolish the former building and begin construction in July, with work possibly starting as early as late spring, marking its seventh Michigan location.  FOX 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On November 27th, 2025, 6,509 runners and walkers gathered outside Van Andel Arena for the 33rd GRPS Turkey Trot—breaking last year’s record by about 75 participants and raising over $275,000 for school athletic programs; for the first time, organizers also collected nonperishable food donations to support local families.  WOOD TV
  • Kenowa Hills STEM Academy now uses a renovated auto shop as a hands-on learning space where up to 50 students work with 3D printers, digital design software, and new woodworking tools—students build snowboards and roller coasters to earn both core and elective credits. The program also uses group projects and peer evaluations to help students learn physics concepts like friction and real work skills.  FOX 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A strong winter storm is headed for West Michigan — it will bring 4 to 8 inches of widespread snow starting Saturday afternoon, with some areas seeing up to 10 inches — and drivers should slow down and clear their vehicles as the system exits early Sunday afternoon. Stay cautious on the roads as the storm unfolds.  ABC 13

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tom Hillen, co-host of eightWest at WOOD-TV, suffered a seizure and stopped breathing on November 17 when his co-workers used CPR with an AED to help him start breathing again. He will see a neurologist in three weeks - he is set to return to television on December 4 after his rest.  MLive
