- ➤ The Friends of Coopersville and Marne Railway held its Santa Train event on November 29 in Coopersville, where children met Santa and Mrs. Claus on a restored vintage train ride. The railway added a sixth train car from Charlotte Southern Railroad to help more than 10,000 riders enjoy the holiday tradition—reinforcing its commitment to local rail heritage. MLive
- ➤ West Michigan is hosting many festive events this weekend. The Silva Holiday Market runs on Small Business Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., indoor yoga is set at Blandford Nature Center, the Grand Rapids Griffins game kicks off today at 4:00 p.m., Hackley Park in Muskegon will hold a Holiday Kickoff & Tree Lighting from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., the W.K. - ➤ Local planning commissions approved five projects near Grand Rapids this month—one is a new Raising Cane’s in Walker to replace a vacant TGI Fridays site with a 3,100-square-foot building and drive-thru lanes that will start construction in July; other projects include a 22-home neighborhood in Walker, a 216-unit residential development in Kentwood, a 205-home subdivision in Wyoming and a church expansion in Ada.
