- ➤ The Friends of Coopersville and Marne Railway held its Santa Train event on November 29 in Coopersville, where children met Santa and Mrs. Claus on a restored vintage train ride. The railway added a sixth train car from Charlotte Southern Railroad to help more than 10,000 riders enjoy the holiday tradition—reinforcing its commitment to local rail heritage. MLive

The Silva Holiday Market runs on Small Business Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., indoor yoga is set at Blandford Nature Center, the Grand Rapids Griffins game kicks off today at 4:00 p.m., Hackley Park in Muskegon will hold a Holiday Kickoff & Tree Lighting from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., the W.K. - ➤ Local planning commissions approved five projects near Grand Rapids this month—one is a new Raising Cane’s in Walker to replace a vacant TGI Fridays site with a 3,100-square-foot building and drive-thru lanes that will start construction in July; other projects include a 22-home neighborhood in Walker, a 216-unit residential development in Kentwood, a 205-home subdivision in Wyoming and a church expansion in Ada.
