- ➤ A New York-based company proposed a 100-megawatt battery storage facility on a 12-acre site near the Van Buren substation in Blendon Township, but zoning problems and neighbor worries delayed the township planning commission’s decision—it said it would ask for legal help before changing the zoning rules. - ➤ The newly-repaved Ann Street has left residents unsure where to place their trash and recycling carts—some try the curb lawn while others use driveways, parking lanes or even the bike lane. Grand Rapids Public Works Director John Gorney said carts should go on the curb lawn but noted that alternatives may be used when the curb is too steep—residents will be given further guidance soon.
