- ➤ Corewell Health and UM Health-West released their top 10 baby names for 2025, with Theodore topping for boys and Sophia leading for girls. The list also includes debut names, and NICU newborns at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital enjoyed festive Christmas sweaters (celebrating the holiday season). MLive
- ➤ Senior Helpers is adding festive touches to home visits for seniors in Grand Rapids as the holiday season nears, easing caregiver loads with (free home assessments) and support for clients like Leslie Kulikauskas and her son Jim Doane. ABC 13
- ➤ Today the Humane Society of West Michigan is at capacity with around 250 to 300 animals in its enclosures and is limiting public visits to calm the dogs. The shelter continues to seek help through fostering, volunteering, and donations as it manages a wait list three times its capacity. FOX 17

- ➤ C3 Industries will permanently close its 125,000 sqft Webberville plant and lay off 62 workers by Feb. 14 due to declining market conditions and a new 24% wholesale tax starting Jan. 1, 2026 (oversupply also played a role). - ➤ Engelsma’s Apple Barn in Walker won first place at the 27th Michigan Apple Cider Contest in Grand Rapids, marking its ninth gold medal since 2005. Jim Engelsma said his daughter Bridget crafted the winning blend — a success against 21 competitors. MLive

- ➤ Park officials reopened part of the main parking lot at Holland State Park yesterday after closing it on Dec. 9 due to illegal activities.
